Description

A Software Engineer is needed to support the upgrade of a Navigation Simulator that went End of Life (EOL). The applicant will work as part of a team that is responsible for upgrading the hardware and software including a redesign of the existing software application and integration of newly developed and existing lab software. The applicant will also be tasked to interact with other personnel from the Software Development Tea, as well as Software Test Team members to design, develop, document, and test hardware and software.

  • M-F, Fixed 9/80 work schedule with every other Friday off

Travel

  • 5%

Position Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the design, development and on time delivery of applications, components and/or systems
  • Participate in design reviews to provide input on functional requirements, product designs, schedules, or potential problems
  • Implement application enhancements and architectural improvements for existing products
  • Support the Technical Writer create technical documents as required
  • Follow and execute test plans, scenarios, scripts, and procedures.
  • Document test procedures to ensure repeatability and compliance with standards
  • Document software defects using a bug tracking system, and report defects to software lead
  • Maintain source code in a version control system
  • Understand and follow secure coding standards
  • Work productively with other team members on small to large scale projects

Minimum Security Clearance

  • DoD Secret - Must have an active DoD Secret security clearance
  • Must be a US Citizen

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Proficiency in software design, development and testing
  • Experience with some or all of the following programming languages: C/C++, Java, C#, JavaScript, XML, MySQL
  • Experience using source control solutions such as Git

Additional Desired Qualifications and Skills

  • Experience working with RF systems in a laboratory or real-world environment
  • Complex multi-threaded software programming experience
  • Current Security+ and Linux/Windows information assurance certifications

Education and Training Required

  • Four-year college (Bachelor's Degree) or Higher
  • Ability to identify, define and resolve problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, emerging growth environment
  • Strong oral, written communication skills
