Description

Gnostech, LLC is seeking an experienced Systems Engineer I to support the Navy and Marine Corps (NAVWAR/NIWC Pacific) Meteorology and Oceanography (METOC) In Service Engineering (ISEA) Programs. The Systems Engineer is a highly skilled IT professional responsible for designing, integrating, and maintaining complex hybrid systems that combine software, web, and hardware components. This role requires a big-picture mindset, blending technical expertise with system-level planning, ensuring systems are reliable, scalable, and aligned with mission objectives. The Systems Engineer proactively engages with NAVWAR customers, addressing potential issues before they arise and ensuring all solutions are developed and maintained to the highest standards of quality.

Position Responsibilities

  • Oversee full system development lifecycle including requirements specification, system design, software development, integration, testing, deployment, and maintenance.
  • Integrate various components such as network operating systems, applications, and hardware devices into cohesive, functional systems.
  • Manage hybrid software, hardware, and web-based products from concept through final deployment and sustainment.
  • Conduct proactive customer engagement using data-driven indicators (“tripwires”) to detect and address system or service instability.
  • Perform detailed system grooming to identify underlying issues undetected by users and provide resolutions.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure technical, cost, schedule, and social impacts are factored into systems engineering decisions.
  • Execute and document quality control inspections aligned with project plans, POA&Ms, Work Breakdown Structures (WBS), and Integrated Master Schedules (IMS).
  • Maintain and enforce compliance with both formal and informal Government procedural quality systems.
  • Support configuration management and change control processes to ensure integrity of system baselines.
  • Provide subject matter expertise across multidisciplinary teams to ensure interoperability and system performance.

Minimum Security Clearance

  • Current active Secret Clearance

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Proficiency in systems engineering, software development, and network infrastructure.
  • Strong understanding of system integration involving web, software, and hardware platforms.
  • Ability to manage development projects using structured engineering processes.
  • Experience with quality assurance, testing, and lifecycle documentation.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for root cause identification and corrective action.
  • Effective verbal and written communication with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with tools and frameworks used in systems engineering (e.g., DOORS, JIRA, Git, IMS tools).
  • Experience supporting DoD systems, especially NAVWAR technologies or networks.
  • DoD 8570 IAT Level II, Security+ CE or equivalent.

Desired Skills

  • Experience with NAVWAR programs and Navy/Marine Corps systems architecture.
  • Background in Agile or DevSecOps development environments.
  • Familiarity with formal configuration management and ITIL practices.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity protocols for DoD systems.

Education and Training Required

  • Bachelor's level degree in an Engineering discipline

Minimum Years of Experience

  • 1 year of experience in engineering or related discipline
