Description: Gnostech, LLC is looking for a dynamic individual to spearhead Gnostech’s technology and engineering effort. You will work direction for the Vice President of Innovation of Research to develop a technology roadmap designed to create and develop solutions for the warfighter. You will support researching, planning, and implementing new programs and protocols which will fuel innovative ideas designed to enhance the warfighters’ ability to execute their mission in the cyber domain. You will be responsible providing input and executing the corporate R&D vision and strategy, implementation of innovation protocols which enhance Gnostech’s innovative culture, employee engagement in the ideation and innovation process, and, more importantly, interaction with the warfighter community to identify solutions to complex “pain points” that need to be resolved. You will assess Gnostech’s current solution portfolio and capabilities and identify ways Gnostech can improve existing products based on the warfighter’s current capability and functional requirements and trends in how the DoD and Navy expect to operate in the cyber domain. Lastly, you will engage with the DoD and Navy innovation community to establish government-industry partnerships which help to identify areas where Gnostech can infuse capital investment, government funding sources such as grants, SBIR/STTRs, OTAs, and other sources which can capitalize Gnostech solution ideas. Our ideal candidate is already engaged in the DoD and Navy technology and engineering innovation community, understands the organizational dynamics between DoD and Navy SYSCOMs, and will continue to remain active in developing and maintaining relationships which can propel Gnostech as a leader in developing innovative solutions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop a Corporate Science and Technology (S&T), Research and Development (R&D), and/or innovation strategy geared towards meeting NAVWAR capability requirements.
  • Be intimately familiar with JADC2, OM, ABS, Project Convergence, and related efforts to help identify potential R&D initiatives.
  • Identify other potential R&D opportunities.
  • Establish relationships with government customers to understand capability needs, pain points, and product/market fit.
  • Lead key projects with R&D to support business goals.
  • Establish relationships with academia and non-profit organizations which can lead to meeting Gnostech’s R&D goals.
  • Support drafting technical proposals and volumes, technical/engineering ideas, and other documentation required to support Gnostech’s growth initiatives. Draft technical whitepapers and support proposal technical volumes when needed.
  • Assess the scope of research projects and ensure they are on time and within budget.
  • Attend defense industry technology conferences and forums to build relationships and identify R&D opportunities.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI U.S. Security Clearance is required.

Supervisory Responsibilities: No supervisory responsibilities, but must be able to coordinate, communicate, and closely collaborate with other Gnostech technologists, engineers, and business development staff.

Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of engineering and technology development experience.
  • 5+ years of recent experience designing, developing, updating, and/or enhancing NAVWAR Information Warfare (IWS) systems.
  • 3+ years of recent experience related to DevSecOps, CaaS, IaaS, SaaS, and PaaS in a tactical or enterprise environment.
  • Experience designing data distribution architectures between disparate networks and communication mediums in a naval or joint environment using both commercial and defense communications systems.
  • Practical understanding of product development, technology transitioning, and marketing/product planning for US military applications.

Knowledge and Skills

  • In-depth understanding of Information Warfare, C5ISR efforts within Navy and Marine Corps
  • Deep understanding of NAVWAR/NIWCPAC/NIWCLANT programs
  • Record of supporting NAVWAR family of programs
  • Ability to work and quickly execute in reaction to opportunities identified by customer engagement, including proposal development.
  • Understanding of CDS in a tactical environment and RTB requirements.

Location

  • San Diego, CA (Company West Coast Office)
  • A hybrid remote work week may be considered; this position must report to the office location a minimum of 3 days per week (Tu/Wed/Thu)

Education and/or Experience

  • BS degree (MS preferred) in Electrical Engineering, Information Technology or Computer Science. (or equivalent experience)
  • 7 years of experience working in the defense industry preferably with a small business.
  • 2 years of technical proposal writing or 3 years of professional/technical writing.
  • Direct experience working for/with the DoD/DoN is required.

Language and Interpersonal Skills

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, understanding of military systems and operations, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Able to coordinate, communicate, and closely collaborate with other Gnostech technologists, engineers, and business development staff.

Reasoning Ability

  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
